Position Details:
This position will be in-office at our client’s facility
Pay range: $29.50-$58.00
Primary Function:
The Electronics Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining and upgrading prototypes, products, tools and assemblies in support of Sigma Design’s electrical engineering activities. Provide technical support in the form of documentation, troubleshooting, and design reviews as required.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
Coordinate, construct and test prototypes consistent with engineering and other specifications through point-to-point electrical wiring, soldering, wire harness assembly and light mechanical assembly.
Hand-place components on bare boards both for full assembly and for rework.
Build test equipment, fixtures, and prototypes for engineering staff and clients.
Troubleshoot design issues as they arise.
Conduct component level debug and provide solutions to complex problems.
Independently perform tests or experiments, and observe and record results.
Conduct characterization level testing and reporting for components and electrical systems.
Provide general support for the engineering team.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment including tools and assembly areas.
Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
Associates Degree preferred.
5+ years of recent and relevant experience required.
Experience and strong ability to read and create complex schematics, wiring diagrams
Able to strictly follow engineering directions or procedures as required.
Strong Experience with the use of Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Power supplies and other typical Electronics/Electrical Lab equipment.
Experience with PLC programming, Visual Basic, or other software skills required.
Detail orientated with a focus on quality, execution and follow through, as well as ability to prioritize workload.
Soldering experience including surface mount and fine pitch components.
Hands on prototyping skills and mechanical aptitude required.
Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group

Work Environment
Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
