Leslie George

Semiconductor Materials Engineer

I am a seasoned semiconductor technology leader with two decades of experience in the US and abroad. Most recently, I was Senior Cleanroom Manager at the University of Oregon, leading the day-to-day operations of the brand-new Micro & Nanofabrication Facility at the Knight Campus. I served as the principal interface between faculty and the facility, helping deliver on national and international research efforts in bio-implantable devices.

I began my professional career as a student in the co-op program at the Georgia Institute of Technology, working at the MiRC facility on campus. After college, I went on to work at a biomedical startup which was acquired by Abbot®, and then I worked as a Senior Research Engineer at the Lurie Nanofab at the University of Michigan.

I have a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, and an MSc in Operations Management from Georgia State University (Atlanta). My educational background syncs perfectly with my domain of semiconductor facility and tool operations. Throughout my career, I have played a crucial role in day 1 starts of facilities in the US and abroad and dealt with the technical and supply chain challenges of such niche facilities head on.

Prior to my role based out of Eugene, I held a senior R&D Lab Manager position at META. My responsibilities included effectively managing several state-of-the-art cleanrooms and labs for AR/VR R&D and pilot line production. In this capacity, I drove strategy, oversaw operations, spearheaded new equipment and safety improvement initiatives, and maintained strong relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

My international experience extends to my tenure as a Fabrication Instructor at Khalifa University (Masdar City Campus) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. My technical and strategic skills, operational expertise, and adept management abilities played a pivotal role in the fast ramp-up of the facility and the support of hundreds of students over the 9 years I worked there. My leadership is marked by a commitment to technical and operational excellence, a focus on results, and a dedication to fostering the growth of the semiconductor supply chain ecosystem in India. My multifaceted experience positions me as a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of the complexities of equipment sourcing and support in a global and ever-changing world.
