3D Printing Specialist
I am a native Southern Californian (Orange County). When I graduated high school, I was heavily recruited by colleges to play basketball. I was a homebody then and opted to stay close to home and attended Fullerton Community College and played Division II basketball for three years. Absolutely loved it! I took nearly everything accessible to me in regard to Graphic Design and all the supporting trades (i.e. Screen printing, Offset printing, Camera layout processing, Technical Illustration, Airbrush, etc.). I graduated with three AA degrees (Graphic Design, Technical Illustration, and Liberal Arts).
As my Fullerton College experience was winding down, I discovered the Art Institute’s Industrial Design Technology degree program. There were multiple states with an Art Institute available, but Seattle, WA was very appealing. I graduated the Art Institute at the top of my class. One of my favorite instructors at the Art Institute organized an interview with Teague and Associates as a prototype modelmaker. I was hired on the spot and made a career there for 13 years. I very quickly learned that I loved the diversity of work, the fast past work expectations, and the collaboration of highly skilled professionals all working for a common goal.
My skills grew exponentially over the course of my tenure from CNC Programming, CNC Operations to high level custom painting. I believe I would still be working there if the design world hadn't changed to the direction of in-house prototype ownership. I pivoted to Graphic Design and worked to graduate Magna Cum Laude in a BFA in Digital Visual Communication from American Intercontinental University.
Shortly after graduation the opportunity to interview at HeartStream was presented for a Graphic Designer's role. Shortly after getting hired for the role, HeartStream was acquired by Philips Healthcare and was transferred to their Bothell campus from Seattle (which was fantastic, because I lived two miles away from the Philips Bothell campus). There I worked within the R&D umbrella supporting the manufacture production and servicing of AED Defibrillators. Being involved with AED defibrillators was truly awe inspiring, having a hand in saving lives. Until recently, Philips sold off all ownership of medical device products which AEDs were grouped.
Within my career journey I met my wife and her daughter. I have just celebrated 24 years of marriage but technically been with her for 30 years. My stepdaughter has earned her CPA and is working as an enrolled agent for a firm. My wife has a Paralegal background and is still working in that field. I have a house full of cats (five) and live in Snohomish (just outside of Monroe). I eagerly look forward to what Sigma Designs experiences will bring.
