Rob Farris
I’ve spent over 20 years in raw material to finished goods manufacturing. Most of those years were in Manufacturing Engineering. I started as a Bill of Materials Coordinator at SIGMADESIGN but was offered a new role supporting the client’s Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Software. In this role, my skill at looking at a manufacturing process and turning it into routes and configurations helped propel the project forward. I enjoy making things easier for my downstream customers and end-users of the products that I support.
BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT SIGMADESIGN: The best thing has been the flexibility of where I can work from. The hybrid work opportunity has been great.
FIRST JOB: My first paying job was as a dishwasher at a local cafe in Stevenson, WA. My parents later bought the cafe and I started having to work in exchange for burgers.
FAVORITE LEISURE ACTIVITY: I spend a lot of my leisure time volunteering for the local fire department where I live. I am also an Elected Hospital District Commissioner for Skamania County. I get to affect a lot of lives in those two positions. If I’m not doing work for those two organizations, I enjoy driving around in the forest and finding roads that I have not travelled down yet. I then see where they lead.
FAVORITE FOOD: Taco Truck Quessabirria Tacos. I also like a nice, medium rare, ribeye steak.
FAVORITE MOVIE: Hellfighters. I’m not a huge John Wayne fan, but I can watch this John Wayne movie over and over and it never gets old.
