SIGMADESIGN is excited to announce the following additions to the firm. In Quarter 2 of 2017 we added more talent to our team. These new employees have joined our team with expertise ranging from Firmware Engineering to Test Technicians and Administrators with specialized skills. SIGMADESIGN is planning to add even more team members to enhance our service offerings for you in 2017.

DARIN HAINES brings education and over 20 years of engineering experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Haines has background as a Design Engineer II, a Senior Software Engineer, and Verification Engineer.  Additionally, he has extensive experience developing firmware and real-time embedded systems for autonomous vehicles, printing, and telecommunications. Most recently, Haines was a major contributor from concept to product release of an Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicle. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Portland. At SIGMADESIGN, Haines is part of the Engineering team working on a wide variety of innovative products for clients worldwide.

JACOB SACKETT brings over 15 years of Technician experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Sackett has background as a Field Service Engineer and an Automation Technician. His experience includes programming and document production; robotic weld development and testing; and repair, maintenance, and programming of robot automation cells. Sackett has been responsible for the planning, execution, and management of multi-million dollar contracts. Sackett studied Advanced Electronics and Electro-Hydraulics at Naval College. At SIGMADESIGN, Sackett provides engineering support for SIGMADESIGN professional services teams on a wide variety of mechanical projects.

DAVID OWEN brings relevant education to the SIGMADESIGN team. Owen recently graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. At the University, Owen was Team Lead on a Mechanical Instrumentation Final Project and a Senior Design Project. Additionally, he was Project Lead on a Robotic Manipulators and Control Project and a PLC Final Project. Owen also has experience as a member on the Missouri S&T Human Powered Vehicle Team. He has skills in SolidWorks, LABView, PLC, NX, C++, FEA, Circuitry, Fanuc 6 Axis, Basic Fabrication, and 3D Printing. At SIGMADESIGN, Owen will provide engineering services that support the SIGMADESIGN professional services teams on a wide variety of mechanical projects.

HILARY GORHAM brings education and 10 years of Human Resources experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Gorham has background as a Human Resources Manager and a Human Resources Consultant. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from DePaul University and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School. At SIGMADESIGN, Gorham will work closely with the President, Executive Leadership Team, and hiring managers by carrying out responsibilities in benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. She will support the linking of HR activity to the success and strength of SIGMADESIGN.

RYAN KRAXBERGER brings over 10 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician to the SIGMADESIGN team. He has experience as an Integration Technician supporting Mechanical Engineers on all subsystems. Kraxberger’s background includes prototype builds of full units and electro-mechanical subassemblies, part reworks and modifications, troubleshooting of mechanical failures, characterization of subsystems, Field Failure Analysis, and testing and design of experiments. He has also supported life cycle testing in a lab environment. At SIGMADESIGN, Kraxberger will provide engineering services that support the SIGMADESIGN professional services teams on a wide variety of mechanical projects.

KRISTIAN HANSEN brings relevant education to the SIGMADESIGN team. Hansen recently graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Mathematics. He has experience as a Reliability Engineering Intern and a Research Assistant. His background includes inspecting failed engine components, researching key manufacturing and usage data, and employing analytical problem solving methods to pinpoint root cause of failure. As an Engineering Intern, he investigated compilation of failure data and considered possible causes ranging from production mishandling to design flaw to identify solutions. At SIGMADESIGN, Hansen will provide mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product projects.

YONG PARK brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Park has background as a Process Engineer and a Mechanical Engineer. Most recently, as a Process Engineer, he set up a prototype and production line for an ink jet printer by implementing Lean manufacturing strategy, conducting cycle-time analysis to balance the production line, providing BOM management prior to and after build, developing manufacturing processes and concepts, and providing statistical analysis of production processes to control quality. Park has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Mechatronics Concentration from the University of Washington. At SIGMADESIGN, Park will be managing the assembly process and tooling for complex machinery.

EVELYN VERZWYVELT brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Verzwyvelt has background as a Triage and Development Specialist, an Engineering Technician in Test, and a Customer Service Professional. Verzwyvelt has experience in executing testing against printers using standardized test routines and custom prescribed testing, validating speed margins, troubleshooting firmware and programs in proprietary software, verifying firmware for UI design, and programming Visual Basic scripts to validate implementation of servicing algorithms in printers. Verzwyvelt has an Associates of Applied Science in Software Development from Clark College. At SIGMADESIGN, Verzwyvelt will work as a Test Technician supporting the firm’s Engineering Team on a variety of consumer and electronics products.

BOB PASIC brings education and 25+ years of experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Pasic has background as a Program Manager, a Product Development Engineer, an Intellectual Property Manager, and a Process Engineer. His expertise includes precision mechanical automation design and control programming for servo-controlled systems. Recently, Pasic reviewed designs for DFA and DFM concerns and conducted time study analysis labor. Pasic has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineer from the University of Washington. He is USPTO Patent Bar registered and is a Registered Professional Engineer. At SIGMADESIGN, Pasic will be managing the assembly process and tooling for complex machinery.

PIET GANZER brings education and 25+ years of experience in engineering to the SIGMADESIGN team. Ganzer has background as an Entry Products Device and Systems Engineering Manager, a Systems Engineering Manager, a QA Manager, and a Mechanical Test Engineer. He is experienced in leading cross-site teams, negotiating with international partners, and developing systems engineering processes. Ganzer has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology. At SIGMADESIGN, Ganzer will provide management for engineering teams working on the development of consumer facing projects, and  focus on Failure Analysis and Software Quality Assurance.

KATHERINE DAVIS brings experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Davis has background as an Inventory Control Clerk, an Operator, and a Material Handler Assistant. Davis has also supervised teams in warehouse settings. At SIGMADESIGN, Davis will work as a front-end operator.  She will perform a variety of tasks to complete assembly of components and sub-assemblies according to established guidelines and quality standards, including pulling new orders and handling internal material requests.

ALEC ANSON brings relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Anson has background as a Production Specialist II and as a Production Engineering Technician. His experience as a Production Engineering Technician includes assisting an engineering team with daily tasks; troubleshooting and repairing complex industrial pumps and testing systems; and providing technical support to the Quality Assurance, Sales, and Manufacturing teams with quality issues. Anson holds his A+ certification in Electro-Digital Technologies. At SIGMADESIGN, Anson will provide engineering services that support the SIGMADESIGN professional services teams on a wide variety of mechanical projects.

JOHN NENADIC brings education and 15+ years of experience in engineering to the SIGMADESIGN team. Nenadic has background as Senior Product Development Engineer, a Senior Product Design Engineer, a New Product Design Engineer, a Mechanical Design Engineer, and a Manufacturing Engineer. He has experience in researching and developing new technology, designing production components and systems, fabricating prototypes, testing prototypes and production parts, helping bring new products to market using design validation tools, and calculating tolerance stack-ups. Nenadic has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University, State University of New York. At SIGMADESIGN, Nenadic will provide mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product design.

ALAN BAKER brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. His experience includes assisting engineers with design changes, system testing, data collection, and document preparation for product improvement. He has an Associates of Science in Computer Field Technology from Tacoma Community College. NANCY PENNEBAKER brings relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Pennebaker has background as a Technician. Her experience includes testing various products on standard and prototype test equipment; analyzing test results with predetermined parameters; maintaining department logs, records, metrics and procedures; and effectively communicating both in writing and orally with engineers, customers, and peers. At SIGMADESIGN, Pennebaker will work as a Test Technician supporting the firm’s Engineering Team on a variety of consumer and electronics products.

CONNOR MCCAFFERTY brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. McCafferty has background as a Mechanical Design Engineer and a Test Engineer. His experience includes designing thermal test hardware; implementing a tolerance stack up analysis procedure; supporting labs by installing and troubleshooting thermal test tools; writing hardware user guides and design procedures; managing and facilitating testing through all stages of new product development; and designing, assembling, and implementing specialized test systems and fixtures. McCafferty has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineer from University at Buffalo. At SIGMADESIGN, McCafferty will provide mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product projects.

COLIN REED brings education and relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Reed has background as a Process Engineer, a Site Application Engineer, an Engineering Technician, and a Lab Technician. Recently, as a Process Engineer, he was responsible for process, equipment, materials, and quality in the manufacture of Printed Circuit Boards in mechanical areas; performed root cause analysis of quality issues and implementation of corrective actions; reviewed designs for manufacturability and provided suggestions to clients; and reported process health to the management team. Reed has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University. At SIGMADESIGN, Reed is part of the Engineering team providing services for clients on a variety of projects.

JACOB SHORT joins the SIGMADESIGN team as a Test Technician. Short is currently attaining a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from Clark College. At SIGMADESIGN, Short will work as a Test Technician supporting the firm’s Engineering Team on a variety of consumer and electronics products.

ALEX HURST brings education to the SIGMADESIGN team. Hurst has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from Pacific Lutheran University. He also recently graduated from Washington State University with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In attainment of his Master’s, Hurst wrote a thesis on 3D Printing: High Speed Sintering Prototype Development and Experimental Study. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, he developed and realized a prototype 3D printer utilizing the high speed sintering process.  Hurst also implemented open-source inkjet microcontroller technology and designed and fabricated a mechanical attachment. At SIGMADESIGN, Hurst will provide mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product projects.

COURTNEY CRAUN brings relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Craun has background as a Test Technician including experience with test operation, observation, defect characterization and reporting. She has collected and reported data using specific spreadsheets and applicable databases and has maintained department logs, records, and procedures. Craun is currently attaining an Associate’s Degree from Portland Community College. At SIGMADESIGN, Craun will work as a Test Technician supporting the firm’s Engineering Team on a variety of consumer and electronics products.

JOS JACOBS brings education and 15+ years of relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Jacobs has background as a Supplier Quality Engineer, a Mechanical Design Engineer, and an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer. His wide-ranging and in-depth experience includes areas such as supplier management, design engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance. Jacobs also has experience in rapid design iterations, fast information exchange, part and tooling qualification processes, and part-sourcing. Jacobs has a Bachelor of Science in Electromechanical Engineering from KHLim, Belgium. He is also a Certified Quality Engineer. At SIGMADESIGN, Jacobs will provide mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product projects.

RYAN DRIESEL brings education and 10+ years of Aircraft Engineering experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Driesel has background as an Aircraft Systems Engineer, an Aero Engineer, and a Mechanical Engineer. His in-depth experience also includes designing medical systems, fuel injection systems, recovery systems, ground control stations, drive shaft generators, and a variety of components. Additionally, Driesel has extensive fabrication experience with various tools and is a SolidWorks Certified Professional. Driesel received a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from California Polytechnic State University. At SIGMADESIGN, Driesel will provide mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product projects.

DAVID LEE brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Lee has background as an Automation Engineer, Sales Application Engineer, and a Software Engineer. Lee holds a Professional Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the University Malaysia Sabah. He is a Certified LabVIEW Developer with expertise in National Instruments’ NI PXI and NI TestStand systems. At SIGMADESIGN, Lee will design and program automation solutions including robotic systems, motion control, PLC, and software.

BRIAN HEINTZ brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. With a background as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, a Project Manager, and a Director of Product Design, Heintz has experience in Graphic Workstation & Monitor Design, Data Projector Design and Manufacturing, Projector Development, LED Matrix Display Monitor Development, Industrial Labeling Applications, and LED based UV Curing Applications. Heintz earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. He also completed coursework for Manufacturing from Stanford University. Heintz holds 10 patents and was awarded the “Metal Casting of the Year” award from NADCA twice. At SIGMADESIGN, Heintz will provide mechanical engineering services as part of a team working on innovative consumer product projects.

MILDRED EASTMAN brings experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Eastman has background as a Production Worker working as a contractor for SIGMADESIGN. She also has background as a Technical/Purchasing Staff and as a Fleet Operation Assistant. Her experience includes quoting requisitions, working with management to ensure proper needs are met, preparing purchase orders for receiving, and working with supplies to ensure delivery dates are met. At SIGMADESIGN, Eastman will be responsible for identifying, managing, recovering and disposing of materials used in product development test procedures. She will also communicate with and support the operators and leads to expedite the transfer of materials.

STAN HATFIELD brings 10+ years of relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Hatfield has extensive background as a Mechanical Technician supporting printer R&D. As a Senior Mechanical Technician, he has experience supporting prototype builds, working closely with engineering support teams using drawings and wiring diagrams; building and testing proof of concept subassemblies; installing and testing existing products for future development; working with Firmware Engineers running various scripts and commands to optimize performance; and providing electromechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, testing, and modifications. At SIGMADESIGN, Hatfield will provide engineering services that support the SIGMADESIGN professional services teams on a wide variety of mechanical projects.

KOKO WRIGHT brings education and relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. KoKo has background as a Garment Developer, a Product Developer, and Business Owner. She has developed soft goods products for both the textile industry and the snow sport industry, in addition to developing and selling her own home textiles. Wright has experience in developing styles for men, women, and children, as well as in branding, trims, graphic prints, all-over prints, and fabric colors. She has also run customer focus groups to identify holes in product offering, resulting in creation of new product. Wright holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Apparel Design with an emphasis in Patternmaking from The Art Institute of Portland. At SIGMADESIGN, Wright will use her expertise to help develop patterns, and evolve and improve the design and functionality of a wide variety of clients’ soft goods. Her experience teaching the Industrial Sewing class at Portland Fashion Institute will be a great asset to the company as SIGMADESIGN grows its soft goods team and offerings. Read more here.

JEFF MACQUEEN brings education and over seven years of system design and test experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. MacQueen has background as a Design Engineer, an Electrical Engineer, and a Senior Product Engineer. His experience includes designing and deploying a scalable, modular enterprise test solution with the capability to test general avionics with a combination of analog, digital, RF, and optical components. Macqueen is also a Lean Electronics Champion and was awarded Enterprise Lean Achievement in 2014 for contributions to creating a new production line. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas. At SIGMADESIGN, MacQueen will be part of the Electrical Engineering team providing services for clients on a variety of projects.

WALTER CHESTER brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Chester has background as a Senior Equipment Engineer, a Senior Quality/Reliability Engineer, a Senior Statistical Engineer, a Senior Process/Tool Engineer, and a Test Engineer. He has experience with the product life cycle, from R&D, working on creating a problem-free, reliable product; to the plant floor eliminating waste in the production process; to delivery of the product into the customer’s hands, identifying and solving reliability problems. Chester has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. At SIGMADESIGN, Chester will spearhead system integration for quality production by understanding requirements from both internal and external customers.

RAYN BROCK brings 15+ years of experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Brock has background as a Materials Manager, an Operations Manager, an Inventory Control Specialist, a Safety Coordinator, a Plant supervisor, an Operations Manager, and a Utility Operator. His skill set coupled with almost 20 years of leadership skills in Aerospace and manufacturing platforms provide an asset to the firm. His experience includes setting up multiple vendors to maximizing cost savings, shipping and receiving, personnel management and administrative duties. Brock holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Oregon State University. At SIGMADESIGN, he will be responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, leading and evaluating assigned laboratory operations and performance.

ROLE AT SIGMA: Production Supervisor

FIRST JOB: My first job was a dishwasher. My oddest job was a blast furnace technician.

MARK HAZELTON brings over 10 years of experience in engineering to the SIGMADESIGN team. Hazelton has background as a Manufacturing Development Engineer, a Mechanical Design Engineer, a Lead Engineer-Process Control, and a Project Manager. As a Project Manager, he established implementation plans and budgets and coordinated communication with customer and manufacturing plants. He also managed a team of engineers and technicians. Hazelton has also provided oversight and leadership to organizations in the implementation of process control initiatives. Additionally, he has developed automated equipment. Hazelton holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University. At SIGMADESIGN, Hazelton will be managing the assembly process and tooling for complex machinery.
