SIGMADESIGN is excited to announce the following additions to the firm. In quarter 1 of 2017 we added more talent to our team. These new employees have joined our team with expertise ranging from Firmware Engineering to Test Technicians and Administrators with specialized skills. SIGMADESIGN is planning to add even more team members to enhance our service offerings for you in 2017.

Rachel Greenen

RACHEL GREENEN brings Human Resources and Recruiting experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Greenen has background as a Client Account Coordinator and a Human Resources Specialist. Specifically, she has experience in handling recruiting, benefits, payroll, onboarding, general human resources responsibilities, and administrative assistance in operations. Greenen holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies with concentration in Sociology, Psychology & Human Development from Washington State University. At SIGMADESIGN, Greenen will be a full time Recruiter responsible for creating job descriptions, posting openings, screening candidates, scheduling and facilitating interviews, and establishing relationships with in-house department managers and client managers to address staffing needs and qualifications.

FIRST JOB: First paid job: Recovery at JC Penney (aka I used my OCD powers to fold clothes and make racks spotless prior to business opening the next day).

Glenn Piekstra

GLENN PIEKSTRA brings 20 years of experience as Technician in both Production and R&D environments to the SIGMADESIGN team. Piekstra has strong skills in PCB layout as well as in building and fabrication. Piekstra is proficient in layout using Cadence Allegro and Orcad Layout. He specializes in high density layouts and has made a number of custom flex circuits for bonding to glass fabrications. Piekstra holds an Associates of Science in Electronics from Clark College. At SIGMADESIGN, Piekstra provides electrical engineering services that support the SIGMADESIGN professional services teams on a wide variety of electro-mechanical projects.

ROLE AT SIGMA: Electrical Engineering Technician
FIRST JOB: Sales of electronic parts and sales of consumer electronics.

Emily Reich

EMILY REICH joins SIGMADESIGN with experience as an Assembly/Rework/Test Operator. She is working for one of SIGMADESIGN’s clients on-site at their location. Reich has experience restocking inventory, monitoring equipment, and tracking work progress in handheld computer systems. In addition, she has trained and supervised teams of employees on projects. Reich holds a Bachelor of Arts from Portland State University. At SIGMADESIGN, Reich’s work involves integrating and reworking electro-mechanical units and sub-assemblies in an ESD-safe environment. She is also testing electro-mechanical units at multiple stages of production, utilizing computer test programs and troubleshooting failures.

ROLE AT SIGMA: Test Technician
BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT SIGMA: The company does cool stuff and I love everything about it.
FIRST JOB: My very first job was counting fruit flies.  Yup, for real!
FAVORITE LEISURE ACTIVITY: Singing

FAVORITE BOOK/MOVIE: For me it’s a tie between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. And Star Trek if that can count as a movie.

 

ERIC KELLER brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Keller has background as a Mechanical Engineer and as a Sales Engineer. His experience includes establishing and building customer relationships. Most recently, Keller helped clients with flow and density application engineering by understanding the fundamental problems they face and offering a complete engineered solution. He also prepared quotations and pricing for engineered solutions. Keller holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, as well as minors in Economics and Business. At SIGMADESIGN, Keller will work to build strategic relationships with current and future clients in a variety of industries located worldwide.

ROLE AT SIGMA: Business Development Manager
BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT SIGMA: The wide range of projects.
FIRST JOB: I was a service porter at a car dealership. I was basically a valet for people getting their cars worked on.

BERNE STROM brings education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Strom has background as a Mechanical Engineer working with multiple technology corporations, and has worked for SIGMADESIGN previously. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. His deep R&D engineering experience with consumer electro-mechanical systems help clients to achieve their business goals. At SIGMADESIGN, Strom supports clients’ efforts to develop and commercialize their new technology.

JESSE APPLEGATE brings relevant education and experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Applegate has background as a Lead Hardware Design Engineer, an R&D Engineer II, a Component Design Engineer, and a Technical Programs Manager. He is experienced in Project Management and Development, Electrical and Electronics System Design, and a variety of software, CAD tools, and test equipment. Most recently, he performed research on SOC microprocessors. Applegate has received awards for his focus on client needs and his contributions to R&D. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Oregon State University. At SIGMADESIGN, Applegate is part of the Electrical Engineering team providing services for clients on a variety of projects.

KATRINA WEST brings relevant experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. West has background as an Assembly/Rework Operator working on prototypes and complex electrical/mechanical assemblies and units. She has also worked in Firmware and Software Development and has used complex debugging tools to analyze a root cause in design and assembly issues. At SIGMADESIGN, West works as a Test Technician supporting our Engineering Team on a variety of consumer and electronics products.

JEREMY PINSON joins the SIGMADESIGN team as an Engineering Technician. Pinson has a varied background with experience including motor mechanics, quality control, diagnosing faults, part replacement, safety procedures, and hydraulic systems. He holds an A.A.T. in Diesel Mechanics from Clark College. At SIGMADESIGN, Pinson will provide engineering services that support the SIGMADESIGN professional services teams on a wide variety of mechanical projects.

PAUL BROTHERTON brings education and over 20 years of experience in successful operations, product design, and process management to the SIGMADESIGN team. Brotherton has background as an Industrial Engineer, a Manufacturing Engineer Manager, and a Production Operations & Infrastructure Quality Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Oregon State University. At SIGMADESIGN, Brotherton will execute the quality strategy for concept-through-production design services. He will collaborate with organizational leaders, engineers and front-line staff to guide and facilitate quality assurance and drive continuous improvement for the firm’s service offerings.

KIM MORRISON brings testing experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Morrison is an experienced Operator, Technician, and Lead Printer Hardware Technician. Recently, following specific test procedures that examine multiple functions, she worked with engineers to test firmware on printers. Morrison has scripted software for electro-mechanical systems and has debugged electro-mechanical systems. She is currently acquiring her Associates of Arts degree from Portland Community College. At SIGMADESIGN, Morrison works as a Test Technician supporting the firm’s Engineering Team on a variety of consumer and electronics products.

DANIEL WEINMASTER brings over 15 years of experience to the SIGMADESIGN team. Weimaster has background as an Engineering Associate. He has 17 years of experience with UL Standards, CSA Standards, and NFPA 70 (NEC). Weinmaster uses Hazard-Based Safety Engineering principles to find multiple solutions when troubleshooting. He also has experience using multiple software platforms and databases as well as managed safety certification investigations and prepared detailed technical reports for product certification. Weinmaster holds his Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute. At SIGMADESIGN, Weinmaster works as a Test Technician supporting the firm’s Engineering Team on a variety of consumer and electronics products.
