Singapore Team Visits SIGMADESIGN Vancouver

Members of the SIGMADESIGN Singapore office were in Vancouver, WA working with colleagues and clients during the month of October, 2013. Their visit purposely coincided with the company’s 20th anniversary celebration so that they could attend.

As SIGMADESIGN offers services from concept through production, the Singapore office plays a critical role in providing our clients with support in Asia. The Singapore team provides service focused on customer interface and robust capabilities in design, engineering, testing, and tooling. We are proud of the dedicated team in Singapore which provides a strong foothold in Asia and strengthens our customer base world-wide.

Highlights of the trip:
We were very fortunate to have 4 members of our Singapore team visit the SIGMADESIGN Vancouver office on this trip. This helped put some faces to the names on emails and reset relationships. And there sure are a lot of new faces at SIGMADESIGN!  It was a very busy week of meetings aligning with team members.  I also visited clients regarding open and new projects that span the globe. In the evenings I enjoyed showing the Singapore team around Portland, lots of good food and fun!

Highlights of the trip:
Back in Singapore, we have always tried to cultivate SIGMADESIGN values, such as taking time to laugh, helping clients and each other, etc. When I am at SIGMADESIGN I really get to experience these values first hand. I am amazed by how spontaneous people are in helping one another, and I have seen there is always time for laughter. It was truly a great experience visiting SIGMADESIGN in Vancouver. Apart from the hectic schedule and meetings, we managed to visit Multnomah Falls and a couple of popular restaurants in downtown Portland. Last but not least, on behalf of the Singapore office, I want to wish SIGMADESIGN a very happy 20th anniversary! More about Gin Goh

Highlights of the trip:
What I enjoyed most on this trip was meeting and talking to everyone and putting a face to the name for people whom I have been communicating with through email. This trip also provided me with a great opportunity to view all of the awesome projects that my colleagues are working on. We had a great time talking shop and exchanging ideas and best practices. It was wonderful to see how passionate everyone is on the things that they are working on in the office as well as in their personal time. We truly do have a group of incredibly talented people working at SIGMADESIGN.

This passion and talent was on display for everyone to see during SIGMADESIGN’s 20th anniversary gathering. From the extremely well organized party to the intricately and beautifully restored vintage and modern cars, all the talents that make up SIGMADESIGN were on display.

Highlights of the trip:
The main highlight of the trip for me was the SIGMADESIGN 20th Anniversary party! Singapore is perhaps the most expensive country in which to own a car and there are hardly any vintage cars in Singapore. When I shared the photos that I took at the party with family and friends, most commented about how cool the party was and this really made me feel proud to be an employee of such a cool company. It was also great meeting old friends and colleagues from SIGMADESIGN and HP Vancouver.

During my trip, I also took the opportunity to talk to Douglas about some of the tools that we are going to design and build in Singapore. Douglas shared his technical expertise about what to look out for when building the tool. It was also great meeting Jake as I had worked with him on a couple of projects but had not met him in person.

Finally, I was on a personal mission to find vintage bicycle in Portland. I visited a couple of bicycle shops around town and found one at River City cycles, but unfortunately the price was US $10K (it was a vintage Colnago steel bike built by Colnago himself!). Guess I’ll continue searching, maybe on my next trip to the US.
